Glensheen Mansion, along with the Duluth News Tribune, hosts another stimulating Chester Chat evening. Set in one of the most beautiful homes in the Northland, the series is a lively Ted Talk-styled event meant to be fast-paced and foster critical thinking.

Topic: Duluth’s Early Murders

Speakers at this Zenith City on Tap will be Tony Dierkins and Heidi Bakk Hansen. Two great local historians who will discuss the history of Duluth’s early murders. You are almost guaranteed to hear some fun and interesting history.

Plus… there will be great local beer such as Bent Paddle and Lake Superior Brewing.

Should be another fun night.

Glensheen Mansion, along with the Duluth News Tribune, hosts another stimulating Chester Chat evening. Set in one of the most beautiful homes in the Northland, the series is a lively Ted Talk-styled event meant to be fast-paced and foster critical thinking.

The next Chester Chat, held Thursday, May 29 will explore the topic of Sustainability.

Speakers are:

 Bob Olen 

St. Louis County Extension Educator and host of  WDSE’s Great Gardening, Bob Olen is also the recipient of the American Horticultural Society’s (AHS) National Teaching Award and beloved Glensheen volunteer.

Dr. Randel Hanson

Randel Hanson holds a faculty appointment in environment and sustainability at the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he teaches courses in food systems, organic agriculture, urban ecology and ecological history. He also runs “The Farm” at UMD.

Doors open to historic Glensheen’s Winter Garden at 7:00 p.m. for a happy half-hour with the guest speakers.

Beer and wine are available for purchase, while the forum is free and open to the public.

Speakers start promptly at 7:30 p.m., each talking for approximately 10 minutes.

KUMD will be rebroadcasting the talk as a regular monthly feature.

Glensheen is a unit of the School of Fine Arts within the University of Minnesota Duluth.
