Hacking the Glensheen Gala

you’ll avoid the any full parking lot blues at the estate. Let the Glensheen folks shuttle you in.

At the southern part of the Duluth East Parking lot, we’ll have an eager UMD student stationed under a tent to greet and point you in the direction of your chariot to Duluth’s best lake party.

Transportation runs in a continuous loops from 6:30 pm — 10:30 pm. (The shuttle ENDS at 10:30, so you’ll want to aim for about 10:00 p.m.)

Shuttle takers will be dropped at one of two entrances to the event:

(1) Glensheen’s parking lot near the Gardener’s Cottage

(2) West Gate near the front door of the Mansion. At the end of the night, shuttles will take guests back to their vehicles at Duluth East High School.

(If shuttles and parking off site aren’t your thing, Uber and Lyft are now available in Duluth. Or if you are staying at a hotel with a shuttle, they can drop you off too!)

You’ll want the program that’s available at the welcome tables at both entrances. It’s going to help you explore the estate on your quest to earn a sweet departing prize. (Seriously, people in the Glensheen office are developing un-met needs for this take home gift — but you’ve got to earn it!)

Plus, your two DRINK TICKETS are at those welcome tables, as well!

(FYI: There is no physical ticket to present at the event, but be assured we have your name on our guest list.)

To earn your departing gift at the end of the night, you must FIND ALL THE KEYS. There are four types of keys that are hidden throughout the estate. Once you’ve found them all, return to one of the welcome tables to claim your special reward.

Northern Waters Smokehaus will make its debut as the Glensheen Gala caterer. This year’s menu is full of British-Isles influences with a balanced mix of both hearty and dainty appetizers, sure to suit a variety of palates.

Food stations will be located in the Mansion and Carriage house. Be sure to explore the estate to try all of Northern Waters Smokehaus’ amazing spread.

Honestly, the estate is vast with some uneven terrain and many stairs. We want to show you some of the out-of-the-way interesting spots, like the second floor of the Carriage House and our Hammock Forest.

Also if the weather cooperates, you’ll want to explore down by Lake Superior. Perhaps you can run a marathon in heels (RESPECT!) but if not, there is no shame in stylish flats.

P.S. The Glensheen Gala attire is Garden Party or Semi-Formal/Business Formal works too.

Glensheen is happy to provide our “shots in the dark” and two drink tickets for two complimentary drinks of your choice at one of our cash bars. After those are gone, additional beverages may be purchased at our two cash bar locations.

At 10:00 pm, the party moves to the Lake Superior Beach Club space down by the lake. Complete with a cash bar, bonfire, board games, and yard games. But remember, while the last shuttle leaves at 10pm there’s always Lyft and Uber to save the day.
