Glensheen Gala: Unlocked — Secret Garden Party

Time travel to Duluth’s best lake party and enjoy a Secret Garden Party on Glensheen Mansion’s 12-acre estate. We’re unlocking the mansion for Gala guests to experience what’s behind closed doors. (Seriously, this isn’t like other fundraisers.)

There will be a ‘secret’ bar (or two) across the estate. Returning Glensheen Gala guests will be happy to hear that the famous ‘shots in the dark’ will continue in new, discoverable locations.

Northern Waters Smokehaus will make its debut as the Glensheen Gala caterer. This year’s menu is full of British-Isles influences with a balanced mix of both hearty and dainty appetizers, sure to suit a variety of palates.

The restoration of the Kitchen Porch will (fingers crossed!) be revealed at the 2018 Glensheen Gala, allowing guests to walk out onto the newly restored Kitchen Porch.

Many exclusive spaces, like the silver safe, are unlocked and open only during the Gala. Because of the exclusive, exploratory feel, the Glensheen Gala is a favorite of many. Purchase your tickets today, glensheengala.com

Wine Wednesdays

First we created the event series, Whiskey Wednesdays. Then we created the event series, Beer Garden. Now to complete the trifecta, we give you Wine Wednesdays.

In partnership with Bellisio’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar, Wine Wednesdays will showcase wines from a different region around the world each week — all while learning a thing or two about wine culture and the wine-making process. Plus! You get to do this at Glensheen’s beautiful lakeside estate!

Each week there are four different wines available for purchase.

PRO TIP: This event pairs nicely with one of our tours. Tours are available for purchase at glensheen.org. For more information, visit our event page here.

A Friday Win.

This is great for a DATE NIGHT or a cheap family night. Just think… you only need to get the kids out of the car once.

Walking tacos will be available for purchase Fridays in August starting at 4:00 pm.

As a part of the Lake Superior Beach Club, walking tacos by Grandma’s Restaurants will be available for purchase in the Garage of the Carriage House for $5 while supplies last.

Hurry! This combo is only possible on Fridays in August after 4pm.

For tour times and additional information, visit us at glensheen.org.

Lake Superior Beach Club

You can finally legally drink ON the shore of Lake Superior.

(Almost) every night this summer from 4:00 pm — 9:00 pm, the Lake Superior Beach Club (LSBC) will be open.

The LSBC is a community space where the public is encouraged to relax and enjoy the beautiful, lakeside estate. The grassy areas are peppered with lawn games and the picnic tables are covered with board games. Quite possibly the coolest part is having menus from local favorites like Sammy’s Pizza available for food delivery.

Meet new friends at the long community table, enjoy a bonfire, or walk the estate and take in the intoxicating aroma of the gardens. As always, rock skipping is provided by Lake Superior on the shoreline.

Access to the grounds and the Lake Superior Beach Club is free after 4:00 pm. Cash bar provided. Tours sold separately. For tour times and information, visit us at glensheen.org.

Sunday Funday

We are continuing the new programming series for kids called, “Sunday Funday.” This is a new opportunity at the mansion for parents and their young children to have the chance to learn and be engaged with art, history, and fun.

The theme for the month of August is Bees, Plants and Gardens inspired by the Glensheen Gardens. The event takes place from 1:00 pm — 3:00 pm.

Guests are encouraged but not required to take a tour in order to attend the event. For Glensheen tour times and pricing, please visit, https://glensheen.org/. The event is limited to the first 20 participants so, please RSVP.

Specialty Summer Tours

The 60 or so perfect summer nights that Glensheen experiences are arguably the best days to visit Glensheen out of the other 300 days of the year. This summer there are two specialty tours that we don’t want you to miss before they take their hiatus.

The Best Damn Tour-

The Best Damn Tour is just that — the best damn tour there is. With an intimate group of four people and two guides, you start your experience with kayaking on the mighty Lake Superior and venturing into Tischer Creek under the infamous Stone Arch Bridge. After your epic kayaking experience, you’re brought to Glensheen’s shoreline for a quick bonfire and s’mores. By this time, it is dark and time to go into the mansion for a Flashlight Tour. It’s a highlight reel of the coolest nighttime experiences in the mansion.

Summer Evening Tour-

The Summer Evening Tour is a steal of a deal for what the tour includes. A guided exploration through all five floors of the mansion, a meandering explanation of the gardens, a peek into the exclusive Boathouse, then ending at the brand-new Lake Superior Beach Club. All for only $30 per person.
