Chef in the Garden

Chef in the Garden takes advantage of our vegetable garden that we have right in our back yard. Black Woods expert chef will showcase different recipes each week using vegetables from Glensheen’s Vegetable Garden.

Each week the chef will create one course from a four-course meal. Salad, soup, entree and dessert. Come to all four for the recipes of a complete meal!

This is our free monthly event series for September. It’s free to attend and open to the public. For more information check out our community event calendar here.

Sunday Funday

Apple Flights at Glensheen

Apple Flights? Think, beer or wine flights, but with apples. But what does Glensheen have to do with apples? Well, Chester Congdon liked apples. No, he REALLY liked apples. In fact, Glensheen had its own apple orchard across London Road. And Chester’s diaries are filled with notations about apple trees, even taking notes on regional fruit growing when he traveled the world.

Later, Chester started an orchard in Yakima Valley, Washington that is still in operation today. So to honor his spirit, Glensheen will be offering Apple Flightsto visitors. The weekend of Friday, September 28th through Sunday, September 30th from 10:00 am — 5:00 pm, tour guests will be able to purchase a flight of four different kinds of apples available for purchase at the end of their tour. (Apple flights available while supplies last.)

Each apple, like wine, has a different flavor experience for guests to try. Take any tour the weekend of the September 28th for your chance to purchase a Glensheen apple flight with the following fruit: Honeycrisp, Gala, Red Delicious, Granny Smith.

Night at the Museum

This is your night to enjoy the mansion — at night… for FREE.

On October 4th, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Glensheen is opening their doors to you for FREE self-guided tours.

Explore the lakeside, 12-acre estate illuminated on a crisp fall night. See the picture-perfect stone bridge spotlighted and all of the lakeside of the mansion dramatically lit. Cap the night with a drink from a cash bar and a snack from food trucks on the estate.

DISCLAIMER: Night at the Museum tours will reach capacity very quickly. Since the mansion tours fill at this event, not every Night at the Museum attendee will be able to tour the mansion. Reservations for tours will not be taken. It is first to come, first served. There is plenty of fun still to be had on the estate.
