Stage 2 Presents: Much Ado About Nothing (at Glensheen!)

June 12, 2018 @ 7:00 pm

Directed by Simon VanVactor-Lee
Tuesdays and Thursdays June 12-28, 2018 at 7:00pm
Glensheen – 3300 London Rd, Duluth, MN, 55804
General admission seating | FREE (donations appreciated!)

Three bros come to Messina looking to party, and maybe to find love; but one estranged brother is ready to orchestrate some sinister sabotage.

William Shakespeare’s classic tale of romance and deception comes to life in a 90-minute roaming performance, set at three locations around the grounds of Duluth’s beautiful Glensheen Historic Estate.

Please note: This is a free, unticketed event. Admission will be first come, first serve at the gate. You may want to arrive early to claim a spot. We will be admitting 50 people for each performance. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Please contact stage2duluth@gmail.com with any questions.

Q: What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
You may park in Glensheen’s parking lot. There are also bike racks present, and the nearest DTA bus route has a stop a short walk away.

Q: What can/should I bring into the event?
Bring something to take pictures, because we’re going to have a photo contest going on (more info coming soon!).

  • Chairs will be provided.
  • We recommend you come with bug spray on.
  • We ask that you do NOT bring your own food or beverage, other than water.

Q: Can I smoke or vape before or during the show?
For the comfort of our actors and audience, smoking and vaping will not be permitted on the grounds.

Q: Can my dog come?
As much as we love our furry friends, it is against Glensheen’s policy to allow animals on the grounds.

Q: How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Please email us at stage2duluth@gmail.com.

Q: Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No. This is an unticketed event, but please remember that space is limited, so show up early!

Q: How long is the show?
The show will run 90 minutes with no intermission.

Q: What does “roaming performance” mean?
In order to capitalize on the gorgeous grounds of Glensheen, we’ve set up three different locations for audience seating around Glensheen’s grounds. The audience will be asked to get up and move to the next location twice during the course of the play.

Q: Will my kid/grandma/uncultured friend like it?
Our adaptation is aimed at being accessible and engaging for audiences of all ages and experience levels with Shakespeare. That said, the story of Much Ado About Nothing includes alcohol consumption and mild sexual innuendos. Use your personal discretion.

Q: This is outdoors. What about weather?
Each day of performance, we will determine whether a cancellation is necessary due to weather by 4pm. In the event of a cancellation, the announcement will be posted in this event, as well as on Stage 2’s Facebook page.

Q: Will there be food and/or beverages for sale on the grounds?
More info coming soon on this.

Q: Is this event wheelchair accessible?
We are looking into this and will update this with more information as we get it.

Q: Will there be ASL interpreters available for select performances?
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide ASL interpreter service for this event. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Q: I have other questions about accessibility that were not addressed in this FAQ.
We are attempting to make this event as inclusive as possible. Please contact us directly at stage2duluth@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.

Q: Will there be any other events going on on-site?
No, the grounds are open at these hours exclusively for Much Ado About Nothing.

Q: Could I come early and enjoy the grounds?
Gates will open at 6:30. If guests would like to explore the grounds ahead of time, they can purchase a Grounds Pass in Glensheen’s ticket house.

Q: Is a tour of the house included?
No, this is just an outdoor theatrical event. If you are interested in touring Glensheen otherwise, we highly recommend that you check out their website at glensheen.org!
