Zenith City on Tap – Morell & Nichols in Duluth

May 17, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

This week’s Zenith City on Tap topic is Morell & Nichols in Duluth presented by Tony Dierckins & Dan Hartman.

Anthony Morell and Arthur Nichols first came to Minnesota to execute the landscape plans for Glensheen; within three years they were the state’s premier landscape architects. In Duluth, they designed parks, estates, bridges, and even entire neighborhoods. This talk, by Zenith City’s Tony Dierckins and Glensheen’s Dan Hartman, explains Morell & Nichols’s impact on Duluth and throughout the state. Adapted from the book Duluth’s Historic Parks: Their First 160 Years.

Nancy Nelson and Tony Dierckins release their book, “Duluth’s Historic Parks,” on May 11th. The book contains an entire chapter dedicated to the park system additions brought to us by Chester Congdon and the Congdon estate: Congdon Park, Congdon Blvd/Kitchi Gammi Park, Lester River Bridge,

…and the introduction of Morell & Nichols to Duluth and Minnesota—which make up three of this month’s Zenith City on Tap topics come from the book.

Doors open at 6:45 p.m.
