This week’s Zenith City on Tap topic is Park Superintendents Henry Cleveland & F. Rodney Paine presented by Nancy S. Nelson & Dan Hartman.
Superlative Superintendents
Between 1913 and 1938 Duluth Park Superintendents Henry “Gramp” Cleveland and F. Rodney Paine oversaw the development and expansion of Duluth’s park system, including the completion of Skyline Parkway. Zenith CIty’s Nancy S. Nelson and Glensheen’s Dan Hartman introduce the audience to these two very remarkable—and very different—men to show how their ideas and experience shaped Duluth’s parks system. Adapted from the book Duluth’s Historic Parks: Their First 160 Years.
