Secrets of Glensheen

Wednesdays in November from 7:00 pm — 8:00 pm

Secrets of Glensheen is BACK by popular demand! See items that the public has never seen before. Pieces from behind closed doors and locked drawers will make their rare appearance out in the world for November’s event series, Secrets of Glensheen.

Glensheen Collections Manager, Milissa Brooks-Ojibway, will showcase various objects from the Glensheen collection that have been hidden out of visitor sight. As Glensheen’s Collections Manager, Milissa is responsible for the proper care and preservation of the objects in the mansion. Therefore, she sees all of the cool and interesting objects in Glensheen’s collection every day. More often than not, these are objects that the public rarely has the opportunity to see. Some of the featured items were rediscovered from places like the storage area on the second floor of the Carriage House that we recently cleared out.

Secrets of Glensheen will take place every Wednesday night in November from 7:00 pm — 8:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public. Guests will enter at the front door of the mansion. The event will take place in the lower level of the mansion.

There will not be a Secrets of Glensheen on Wednesday, November 21st.

1911 Congdon Thanksgiving Menu at Restaurant 301

Glensheen has partnered with the Sheraton Duluth Hotel and Restaurant 301 again this year for a unique opportunity to enjoy a menu inspired by The Congdon’s 1911 Thanksgiving menu. This menu will be served at Restaurant 301 in the Sheraton Duluth Hotel November 5th through Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22nd.

There are two ways people can eat like a Congdon:

  • The Taste of History Package. This includes a $50 gift certificate from Restaurant 301 for two guests to enjoy a four-course meal and two discounted Glensheen Classic Tour tickets. (Do not need to be a Sheraton hotel guest to purchase this package.)
  • Choosing the November special when dining at Resturant 301

Basically, if anyone goes to Restaurant 301 over the next few weeks they will have the chance to eat the Congdon’s 1911 Thanksgiving Dinner.

Candlelight Christmas Tour

Find yourself in the mansion being guided by the lights of the Christmas trees. This gorgeous display will surely make it onto your yearly Christmas bucket list, as you are fully immersed into what it must have been like for the Congdons on a magical Christmas evening.

Candlelight Christmas Tours will begin on 11/23/18.

On this guided tour, each group is accompanied by two guides who will illuminate pieces throughout the house. Glensheen requests that guests do not bring their own flashlights.
