Kicking off 2023’s Wednesday night events, you will have the chance to explore the snowy estate with the backdrop of a Lake Superior sunset via snowshoe, Wednesdays in January & February from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
Check out the wooded area next to Bent Brook, and explore the Lake Superior shoreline via old-school wood snowshoe.
As the main visionary for the North Shore Scenic Drive, Chester Congdon was big on the preservation of the North Shore’s natural beauty. He embraced Northern Minnesota’s landscape by incorporating his own personal hiking trails on Glensheen’s estate. Plus, what we know today as Congdon Park, was given to the city by Chester with the promise that its cascading waterfalls and wilderness would remain wilderness as a park for the public.
Glensheen will have snowshoes available for use! Since the snowshoes are limited, please bring your own snowshoes if you have a pair. Snowshoes are not required, a good pair of boots work too. If there is not enough snow, guests can still hike the estate with boots.
The event and use of the snowshoes are free and open to the public.
